Just over a week ago, I posted that Google had now made the use of passkeys the default option for signing in to your Google accounts. Well, the use of passkeys instead of Passwords is growing.

Microsoft have now implemented a dedicated passkey manager in the latest Windows 11 update.

The new option is available via Settings -> Accounts -> Passkeys

Windows users on the Insider channel have had access to the passkeys dashboard since June, but the new update brings the option to all users.

In addition to Microsoft, WhatsApp have announced that users of the service on Android phones will be able to logon to their accounts using a passkey now.

Another new member of the passkey gang is Amazon – A new option is now available via your Accounts settings that allows you to setup a passkey for your Amazon account.

Once you log-in to your account settings, the option is available in the Login & Security section.

Creating the passkey is a very quick process. On a Windows PC, click the setup passkey button, enter your Windows PIN and that’s it – the entire process takes less than 15 seconds to complete

Could the days remembering hundreds of passwords be at an end?

Hopefully
