Is A.I. about to bite the corporate hand that’s been feeding it?

No matter where you look – A.I. is the hot topic just about everywhere.

And yes, it is A.I. – Artificial Intelligence – not S.I. no matter how much the golden turd wants to protest about it.

Well, the hot topic has just got a little hotter…

On the 29th September, a developer called P.E. Cooper released news that he had used Anthropic Claude Opus 5.5 and Open AI’s GTP-6 Astra to reverse engineer the source code for Call of Duty World at War and ported the code to run in a browser.

After a few negative comments about the fact that he hadn’t done it at all, and it was all fake (spot the irony here) – he started posting clips of the game heavily modified..

Rock, Paper, Scissors?

Zombie Disco?

Not long after, he started posting the game with elements from other games included…

Wii sports Zombies…

How about a COD/Fortnite crossover?

He even made a COD/Portal crossover…

The fact that billions of pounds of development in code has now just been stripped by A.I. will send shivers down the collective spines of boardroom executives across the software world.

Universal-modder is a tool that can allow anyone with a Claude subscription the ability to modify just about any game on the market today

Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Electronic Arts, CapCom, Ubisoft, Rockstar, Bandai, and all the other video game developers will be watching very nervously over the next few months to see just how little control they have over their source code.

This revelation follows on the heels of the announcement by another bunch of developers at Artcraft announced that they had successfully reverse engineered the full Adobe Creative Suite and are offering alternate software titles for free. Not only that, they have released their source code too for others to build their own copies.

The founder of ArtCraft, Brandon Thomas, decompiled Adobe’s flagship software titles using Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.5 and then rewrote the replacements using Rust. ArtCraft offer these alternate titles via their website, or via GitHub.

PhotoCraft is the alternative to Photoshop

LightCraft is the alternative to Lightroom

VectorCraft is the alternative to Illustrator

I’m sure Adobes lawyers are gearing up for a cease & desist notice and probably litigation case…

The fact that these A.I. agents are capable of such feats has provided a difficult conundrum for developers.

Many people have for a long while argued that most A.I. systems have been trained on datasets that have not been acquired in the most legal of ways – the number of lawsuits filed against A.I. companies currently stands at 246 according to the A.I. Lawsuit tracker – 144 of which relate to Intellectual Property and Copyright infringements. Many people in support of the fact that you can now hack any game or app consider this retribution for the years of scalping paying customers.

Reverse engineering software is not a new thing – there have been tools for doing exactly this around for almost as long as software itself. Tools such as Ghidra, IDA Pro, Binary Ninja, Ollydbg, Cutter, HxD, Frida, are just some of the tools regularly used to reverse engineer apps and other software.

The tools above do require a good understanding of software development, machine code, encoding, etc. in order to be useful but with A.I., anyone can now reverse engineer just about any app and build their own copy.

And this is where it gets interesting.

Lets replace COD with WhatsApp.

Replace Wii games with your banking app

Replace Fortnite with Signal

Replace Red Dead Redemption with Windows

The fact that for many years, security has been founded on the fact that the systems we use are too complex for humans to easily reverse engineer is now no longer the case – With A.I. EVERY software app we use is now firmly in the cross-hairs of every threat actor out there – The fall of games is just the start – In the next few months, I fully expect to see many apps we regularly use start to be reverse engineered and compromised.

There have been stories for years that A.I. is going to fundamentally change the world as we know it, but until now, nobody has really taken much notice, as the only people it will NOT affect are the multi-billion dollar owners of companies who stand to make more money by reducing costs by replacing people and systems with A.I. agents.

Now that those very same multi-billion pound companies can see their IPR being stripped out from under them in minutes – they will absolutely be shouting for controls and guardrails being tightened around the very A.I. systems they are currently in awe of.

In a recent statement the golden turn announced that A.I doesn’t need guard rails

Lets see him backtrack on that one once his sycophants start lobbying him over the fact that they now stand to lose billions in revenue.

Footnote…

Oh deary me – it appears that I’m now classed as “The Enemy”… The guys a joke…

BTW – It’s the Gulf of Mexico, and it’s Lake Ontario
