Operation Venetic – the multi-agency operation to infiltrate and shutdown the criminal communications system known as Encrochat have released figures regarding the success rate of follow-on investigations into the gangs and individuals using the secret services on offer with the system.

In an announcement by Europol yesterday (27th June), the European Policing Agency said that follow-on investigations have led to 6,558 arrests and almost €900M worth of assets seized.

The press release also details the areas of criminality those arrested were involved in with the largest percentage of criminals being involved in Organised Crime (34.8%) closely followed by Drugs trafficking (33.29%).

Millions of calls monitored
Since the infiltration of the Encrochat network, law enforcement agencies had the ability to intercept and record over 115 Million criminal conversations between an estimated 60,000 users.
