Freecycle, the website for those altruistic users who wish to give away unwanted items instead of profiteering via sites such as eBay or Vinted, has been hacked.
In an announcement on the organisations website, Executive Director Deron Beal said that “On the 30th August we became aware of a data breach on Freecycle.org. As a result, we are advising all members to change their passwords as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and would ask that you watch this space for further pending background”
The notification to users details that the breach of data includes usernames, User IDs, email addresses and passwords.
