Seizure event

Although the seizure notice states the FBI involvement, the main players in this particular take down are the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Regional Prosecutors office in Katowice and the Central Bureau fo Combating CyberCrime, who are based in Krakow – This suggests that the private datacentre used by Lolekhosted was in Poland.

What’s in a name?

The name Lolek is taken from a character from the Polish cartoon Bolek and Lolek which first aired in 1962.

Bolek & Lolek

The cartoon was hugely successful in Poland, and was also distributed in other countries under names such as Benny & Lenny, Jym & Jam, and Tim & Tom.

In 2011, a staute of the two characters was erected in the city of Bielsko-Biala where the cartoon was produced.
